Napa Valley ‘Right Bank’ Bordeaux Style Wines
Robert Parker – Wine Advocate (90 Points)
“Scott Palazzo has fashioned a stylish, European inspired dry red wine, offering wonderful sweet black cherry, cassis, lead pencil shavings, pain grille, and licorice aromas . . . It’s nice to see such finesse styled efforts emerging from California as there is often a misconception that everything produced in that state is too ripe, too big, and too extracted.”
CContinuing in the style and quality of the 2003 vintage, my current release of PALAZZO 2004 Napa Valley Red Wine is a beautiful wine of exceptional character and personality!
My inspiration, and passion for producing my wine continues to come from the beautiful ‘Right Bank’ region of Bordeaux, France… and the exceptional wines produced from the small, family owned Chateau’s that dot the rolling hillsides of this enchanted wine area.
Merlot continues to make up the lion share of my PALAZZO 2004 Napa Valley Red Wine… and is the ‘backbone’ of this vintage… giving the wine its power & strength… The Cabernet Franc adds brightness, acidity and a ‘floral spiciness’ to the wine… with the Cabernet Sauvignon adding structure and character to the body and finish of the wine.
The nose has wonderful aromas of blueberry and black cherry fruit with hints of cocoa, cinnamon and cassis... which will only continue to develop with age... On the palate the wine is full-bodied with a lush, supple texture and rich mouth feel... and wonderful layers of rich cherry and blackberry fruit…the tannins are noticeable but sweet and the wine possesses the purity and muscle of my '03 vintage... with a long rich finish of deep dark fruit.
Our goal at PALAZZO is to make wines of outstanding quality, depth, balance and structure… that exhibit both ‘power and elegance’ on the palate… and that pair well with a broad range of foods. This will always be the standard!
