After two back-to-back very cold and challenging vintages in 2009 & 2010 here in Napa Valley. I am very excited to be releasing my new vintage of PALAZZO 2011 Cabernet Franc! Although in 2011 much of the upper Napa Valley had difficulty with rain & grape rot at the end of harvest, the 2011 growing season down in the Carneros Appellation was superb! For those of you who don't know, the Carneros Appellation in Napa is situated down at the "month" of Napa Valley, and because of it's proximity to the East Bay, it is consistently much cooler than the rest of Napa Valley. This helps deter & prevent mildew & grape rot after rains, as well as allows for an extra 2 to 3+ weeks longer "hang-time" on the vine . which gives the grapes a chance to gain complexity & flavor development, as well as letting the tannins mature and soften / ripen for a better mouth-feel!

As many of you know, after releasing the first two vintages of my PALAZZO 'Right Bank' Proprietary Red Wine, I was hugely honored to be asked by Chef Thomas Keller if I would produce an exclusive bottling of PALAZZO Cabernet Franc, for his famous restaurants, the French Laundry in Napa Valley... Per Se in New York City... and Bouchon in Las Vegas. Of course I said "YES!". and when the wine was received extremely well that first year, it became the impetus for me to move ahead and start producing my PALAZZO Cabernet Franc for the marketplace!

Thank you to everyone who has helped support me and my wines and make them such a tremendous success across the country! I am very fortunate and thankful that so many people have appreciated & enjoyed the 'style' of my wines, and what I'm trying to make / create in the Napa Valley!

Tasting Notes -

Nose: Floral and aromatic with delicate tones of crushed violets & cassis. Red cherry, strawberry & fresh cranberry fruit. Resiny, with hints of cedar wood, spice & notes of juniper, with just a hint of cocoa powder laced throughout.

Palate: Velvety & rich in texture with excellent structure & acidity. Stunning sweet fruit of crushed red cherries, strawberries & red raspberries, with a touch of spiciness, earth & minerality. The mouthfeel is plush and complex, with supple sweet tannins, and wonderfully balanced!

Finish: Velvety in texture & elegantly seductive, with hints of cocoa power & dark chocolate. Sweet dusty tannins give the wine a long, beautifully polished finish, with flavors of rich cherries & chocolate!

Food Pairings: Quail & Chicken dishes . to Roast Pork & Bone End Rib Eye! Very versatile food wine!
