Hi from Napa Valley! I am very excited to be releasing the new vintage of my
PALAZZO 2014 Cabernet Franc RESERVE! It’s my 10th Vintage of making Cabernet
Franc here in Napa Valley ... and it is a spectacular ‘world class’ example of just how
delicious & amazing Cabernet Franc can be from Napa Valley!
It’s been a tremendous journey the past 15 years, learning & mastering the nuaunces
and various expressions that the Cabernet Franc grape can show ... when grown here
in the Napa Valley.
After the first two vintages of my PALAZZO ‘Right Bank’ Proprietary Red Wine, I was
hugely honored to be asked by Chef Thomas Keller if I’d produce an ‘exclusive bottling’
of PALAZZO Cabernet Franc, for his world famous restaurants, the French Laundry
in Napa Valley ... Per Se in New York City... and Bouchon in Las Vegas. Of course I said
“YES”! And when the wine was received extremely well that first year, it became the
impetus for me to move ahead and start producing my PALAZZO Cabernet Franc
for the marketplace!
My new PALAZZO 2014 Cabernet Franc RESERVE is ‘world class’ Cabernet Franc and
possesses a ‘deep sense of place & personality’! The wine expresses both the rich and
opulent style fruit that grows here in Napa … along with a balance of ‘stunning acidity
& vibrancy’ from grapes grown down in the Carneros Appellation. Because of the
much cooler afternoons and nights that the vineyards in Carneros experience … this
allows the grapes to retain their acidity & freshness … and thus the wine can possess
a balance of both ‘power & elegance’!
The new PALAZZO 2014 Cabernet Franc RESERVE is a spectacular wine with floral
tones of crushed violets & cassis, red & black cherries, and red raspberry fruit … with just a
hint of spice & chocolate! Rich & opulent on the palate … with great acidity and soft
supple tannins. Gorgeous red & black cherry fruit and ‘signature notes’ of dark choco-
late, red raspberries & white pepper laced throughout! This wine drinks wonderfully
right now, and will continue to develop nicely over the next 10 to 15 years!
